Table 509 Bar & KitchenĪlso on the first floor is a pantry area where you can buy snacks and drinks. Breakfast is served from 6:30am-11am, while dinner and cocktails are served on Friday and Saturday night from 5pm-10pm. There’s a restaurant and bar on the first floor called Table 509 Bar & Kitchen. The hotel does have some food and beverage options though. The Hotel Indigo San Diego Gaslamp Quarter doesn’t offer complimentary breakfast (no Hotel Indigos do), so we grabbed breakfast from the Starbucks around the corner each morning. Unlike some hotels that have transitioned to having large bottles of wall-mounted toiletries in the shower, the Hotel Indigo had small bottles of toiletries. The bathroom didn’t have a bathtub, but there was a large walk-in shower. The bathroom was a fairly good size and had a long vanity. The room did have a closet in the corner which contained a safe, iron, ironing board and luggage rack. It was surprising and a little disappointing that the room didn’t have a mini fridge. To the right of that was a dresser with a TV on top. On the other side of the room was a desk and chair. ![]() Armchair, ottoman & side tableĪs mentioned earlier, the Hotel Indigo upgraded us to a room with a skyline view and it was a pretty good view. In the corner of the room was an armchair and ottoman, along with a side table designed to look like a tree trunk (or perhaps it was part of an actual tree trunk). The cylindrical pillow on the bed worked well as a light-blocker by placing it on the floor in front of the door. The bedroom had a comfortable king bed with tables on each side. In the entranceway there was a table with a Keurig coffee maker on top. When entering the room the bedroom was straight ahead and the bathroom was to the right. We were assigned room 920 they did this so that we’d be on the same floor as the rooftop pet area seeing as we had our dog Truffles with us. Gloria was the front desk agent who checked us in and Shae said that she was incredibly friendly and helpful. ![]() On the day we arrived, Shae went inside to get us checked in while I unloaded what we needed from our car. We’d booked a King Deluxe room and were upgraded to a King Skyline View room. This was surprising because IHG properties in the US are normally awful about giving upgrades, let alone giving you one ahead of time when you hadn’t even requested one! The day before we arrived I received an email from IHG (the chain Hotel Indigo is part of) letting me know that we’d received a room upgrade. Here’s a review of our stay at the Hotel Indigo San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. These are all minor matters and I would definitely stay a Indigo again. The Hotel Indigo is a very pet-friendly hotel, is nice and comfortable, provides good IHG elite status benefits and is the perfect place to stay if you’re in San Diego to go to a Padres game as the stadium is only a block away from Petco Park. (4) the air con is great but it only temporarily let's you lower the temperature from the preset 72 degrees F which I found a bit hot. The room is just so nice, it's a shame to open the blind and see a concrete abyss. A hotel of this calibre could probably put in some simple greenery / hedging to mask this. Just you and the soap! (3) in any hotel, not everyone gets a view of course, but one half of level 2 rooms stare straight onto a concrete roof with air vents. You're reliant on the old-school ice bucket. A few minor things to be aware of (and this is nitpicking): (1) the rooms have no fridge. You need a cab to get to other attractions like San Diego Zoo (was $12) and the Hillcrest District (was $16). The downstairs cafe is reasonably priced and the staff were lovely. The hotel is extremely well equipped, with a gym, a fabulous rooftop bar, a modest gym and even a meditation balcony. It definitely had a "wow" factor AND whats even better is that it was "wow" and functional (as opposed to the Andaz's fabulous but ridiculous in-room showers). ![]() The room I stayed in was impressive and generous in size considering I purchased a 21-day advance pre-pay rate. The furnishings and decor are all really current whilst remaining warm. Indigo has one of the best interior designs of a hotel I've seen. ![]() Hotel Indigo is a really nice mid size hotel, perfectly located one block from Petco Park Stadium, two blocks from the Gas Lamp District and a 20min walk down to the water.
